Rigid Resin is ideal for creating\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sybridge.com\/jigs-fixtures\/\">jigs and fixtures<\/a>, parts with thin walls and features, and manifolds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some key mechanical specifications for Formlabs\u2019 Rigid Resin 1 L, post-cured, are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ultimate tensile strength<\/strong>: 75 MPa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tensile modulus<\/strong>: 4.1 GPa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Elongation<\/strong>: 5.6%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flexural stress at 5% strain<\/strong>: 121 MPa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flexural modulus<\/strong>: 3.7 GPa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Notched IZOD<\/strong>: 18.8 J\/m<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heat deflection temperature at 1.8 MPa<\/strong>: 74 \u00b0C<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heat deflection temperature at 0.45 MPa<\/strong>: 88 \u00b0C<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Thermal Expansion (between -30 and 30\u00b0 C)<\/strong>: 53 \u03bcm\/m\/\u00b0C<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Rigid Resin is so stiff and tends to be brittle, it\u2019s not recommended for parts that must bend or parts to be used in drop or impact testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rigid Resin follows the same basic manufacturing requirements and procedures as many other resins, but with two notable exceptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standard resin tanks are incompatible with this material because the elastic layer in the tank will swell if it\u2019s exposed to the uncured resin, so engineers and manufacturers must use Formlabs\u2019 Resin Tank LT for Form 2, or the Form 3 Resin Tank V2 for Form 3. Most importantly, Rigid Resin must be cured to achieve the highest possible strength and stability. Formlabs recommends curing Rigid Resin for 15 minutes at 81\u00b0C for a 116% increase in tensile modulus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of finishing, engineers should wash Rigid Resin in isopropyl alcohol for 15 minutes, and allow it to dry before post-curing. There will be white glass particles left behind in the isopropyl alcohol after washing the printed parts, so be sure to use a separate wash bucket to keep the glass particles from transferring to parts printed with other types of resins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-rigid-resin\">Why Rigid Resin?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Engineers should consider using Formlabs\u2019 Rigid Resin 1 L when they need a material that\u2019s exceptionally stiff, strong, and capable of producing high-quality parts with delicate features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rigid resin is comparable to other glass-filled&nbsp;thermoplastics&nbsp;and outpaces standard resins as well as&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/formlabs.com\/store\/flexible-80a-resin\/\" target=\"_blank\">Formlabs\u2019 Flexible Resin 1 L<\/a>&nbsp;when it comes to strength and stiffness.
